Current Lab Members (2021-2022)

Sofia Perez Segioviano is an Honours Student for 2021-2022. She is researching the development of social and emotional strengths in undergraduate and graduate students.
Timothy Angelo Curtis is an honours student for 2021-2022.
Saskia Groot is a Research Assistant in 2021. She is assisting with research design and pedagogical approaches.
Mohtashim Umar is a Research Assistant in 2021. He is assisting with pedagogical approaches and online knowledge dissemination.
Maya Carcamo Arakawa is a Research Assistant in 2021. She is assisting with program design and developmental pedagogical approaches.
Hannah Cohen is a Research Assistant in 2021. She is assisting with research design and course improvement strategies.

Past Lab Members

Jusnoor Aujla completed an Independent Studies Project in 2019-2020. He studied marginalization, social emotional assets, and campus climate in undergraduate students.
Adrian Woo was a Research Assistant in 2020-2021. His work included studying emotional resilience in parents during COVID-19.
Morgan Davis was an honours student for 2020-2021. She studied emotional resilience in parents during COVID-19.
Michael Alex Bednar was a Research Assistant in 2020-2021. His work includes studying online pedagogy best practices.
Yomna Waly was an Independent Studies student and PURE Fellow for 2018-2019 and continues in the lab as a Research Assistant. She examined how ethnicity, anxiety, grit, &sense of belonging in university students.
Winston Ho completed his Honours in 2019-2020 year with Drs. Kathleen Hughes and Susan Boon. He studied social emotional development in young adults in university settings.
Rita Diaz completed a summer research assistant role in 2018. She examined family dynamics in children’s animated movies and continues in the lab as a Research Assistant.
Alicia Morris completed her Honours in 2019-2020 under the supervision of Drs Kathleen Hughes and Simon Spanswick. She studied ADHD, teacher quality, and academic engagement in university students.
Abdullah Bernier completed an Independent Studies in 2018-2019 year. He examined cognitive development as it relates to social emotional development in emerging adulthood.
Kaitlin Roth completed her Honours in 2018-2019 year. She studied gender conformity as measured on a spectrum, shyness, and self-esteem in undergraduate students.
Eden Matthews completed an Independent Studies project in 2017-2018. She examined ethnicity and sense of belonging on university campuses.
Alicia Donovan completed an Independent Studies project with Dr. Hughes at University of New Brunswick in 2016. She examined Social Emotional Assets, anxiety, and engagement among university students.
Dani Wallis completed her Honours project at Carleton University co-supervised by Dr. Hughes & Dr. Coplan in 2011-2012. She examined social competence and academic engagement in elementary students.
